Your First Brazilian!

So you’ve heard how incredibly awesome a brazilian is, but are hesitant or nervous about getting one yourself? If you are reading this, then my guess is yes 😊. But fear not and know first and foremost, you are not alone! When I finally made my first brazilian appointment over 9 years ago, I can’t even describe how nervous I was. Was it going to be awkward? Was it going to hurt? How do I prepare for something so personal? Please read on for some important info to help you get from being on the fence to jumping in with both feet!

Before you set your appointment, check out the reviews from my booking site (https://mollyssugar.glossgenius.com/about), which I hope will give you comfort in knowing that you will be in good hands.

If you are booking your appointment for a special event or headed to the beach for a vacation, timing is everything. It’s important to know that to get the most benefit of your brazilian it’s best if you wait 24 hours before you hit the pool or hot tub, sauna, workout, or…you know 😊. This helps to reduce and avoid potential irritation and let your skin heal up and be ready for action.

Getting Ready:

Like me, you will be nervous, and that is, normal, and expected. Just know that nothing fun and exciting happens without a few butterflies in your tummy! Here a few steps to take help you feel more prepared (and less nervous):

  1. If this is your first sugar, make sure your hair is grown out to 1/16th to 1/4th of an inch (like a grain of rice!). For many people this is around 2 weeks of hair growth. This will significantly reduce the amount of discomfort!

  2. Exfoliate the skin a minimum of 2 days before your appointment. Do not exfoliate the day before, the day of or the day after. I recommend sugar or salt scrub or exfoliating mitts; small circles are best and aim for the top layer of skin only. Be thorough, but don’t scrub down the bone 😊.

  3. Please arrive 5 mins early with clean, dry skin (no oils or lotions). I have hygienic amenities available for use prior to service if preferred.

  4. Make sure you are hydrated! Believe it or not, if you are dehydrated, your hair follicles tighten up around the hair, making removal more painful.

  5. If you are concerned about any pain or discomfort you might experience 😉, I advise my clients to take ibuprofen 30 mins prior to your appointment\service.

You need to know…I’ve chosen to do this for a living, so whatever you’ve got going on down there, it won’t bother me a bit!! So, you do you…come as you are and in whatever way you feel comfortable. Dress for comfort! Loose fitting clothing and cotton underwear is always a good thing.

Your Appointment

It’s my job to make you feel safe and comfortable. When you arrive, I’ll show you to my room where you can have a moment to get ready. Then I’ll come in and we will get started. In most cases, especially if you’ve done the prep work described above, the appointment will last between 15 and 30 minutes. Remember, “brazilian” means everything goes from back to front! If you want something else or anything to be left behind, just let me know!

 Final Thoughts

Back to feeling nervous, you are not the only one. I am a licensed esthetician, and this is what I do. The hardest part is showing up. After your first Brazilian you are going to be obsessed and addicted to the result. The hair removed doesn’t grow back nearly as thick (it gets less and less) and you won’t even see any hair for up to a few weeks. Your skin will be so soft and smooth. In almost all cases, my clients say the appointment was not nearly as bad as they thought, and then later that it was the best thing ever!

Now that you are all done. Do not forget to EXFOLIATE! 72 hours after your brazilian start exfoliating to keep your hair follicles open and ingrown hairs from forming. This will make your next Brazilian easier for both of us!
